Judiciary Reform the Alan Bates Way -

Mission Judiciary

Has the UK lost faith across Civil, Criminal and family courts..

Our Mission

The mission of the Social Impact Academy’s judiciary reform initiative is to effect transformative changes within the judicial system. We strive to make the justice process more accessible, transparent, and equitable, ensuring that it serves the public with fairness and integrity.

Judiciary Reform the Alan Bates Way - Shaping Solutions for Change

Sir Alan Bates was celebrated not only for his heroic deeds but also for his humility and steadfast commitment to justice, traits that earned him profound respect and the honorific title. Inspired by his legacy, we at the Social Impact Academy are dedicated to continuing the movement for judicial reform—a cause that Sir Alan championed passionately.

What We Bring to the Table

  • Expert Collaboration: We collaborate with seasoned professionals from within the judicial sector, including judges, lawyers, and policymakers, to ensure that our reform initiatives are informed by deep, practical insights.

  • Community Engagement: We believe that effective reform cannot occur in a vacuum. Engaging with those who have lived experiences of the judicial system—victims, defendants, and justice advocates—allows us to understand diverse perspectives and identify critical areas for improvement.

Advocacy and Policy Development: Leveraging our network of influencers and experts, we advocate for policy changes that address systemic issues such as sentencing disparities, procedural inefficiencies, and barriers to justice.

Why This Matters

  Restoring Public Trust and Confidence

Judiciary reform is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our legal system and the trust of the public it serves. Ineffective, unfair judicial processes not only undermine the principles of justice but also lead to broader social issues, including increased incarceration rates and reduced public confidence in governance.

the UK's largest survey on family courts

The Social Impact Academy - Empowering Communities

The UK Family Court system is under increasing scrutiny, with countless families experiencing significant delays, separation, and trauma due to a system that often fails to deliver justice. 90% of court cases end up with the child staying with one parent.

The avea

Did you know that over 30,000 children in care potentially shouldn’t be there, according to the Care Review by Josh MacAlister? Many children are separated from their parents for years due to lengthy court processes, impacting their mental health, stability, and future. Alarmingly, **40% of children in care eventually enter the judiciary system**, with **70% of them being neurodivergent**.

We need your help to bring about change. The Social Impact Academy is conducting the UK's largest survey to ensure families' voices are heard, and the rights of children, parents, and neurodivergent individuals are respected. Your feedback will be sent directly to policymakers, judiciary leaders, and ministers to reform the system for the better. Take just 5 minutes to complete this confidential survey, and help us ensure justice for all families.
