Mission Health

Independent Health? Putting the 'Great' back into the 'Great NHS'

Our Mission

 Mission Statement

"To enhance NHS service delivery and patient outcomes through strategic reforms, focusing on reducing wait times, improving access to essential care, and bolstering the overall efficiency of health services across the UK."

Health Challenges in the NHS: A Comprehensive Overview

The NHS is facing significant challenges in meeting its healthcare targets, with a notable impact on patient care and waiting times. Recent data highlights the strain on the system and underscores the urgency for reforms to enhance efficiency and patient outcomes.

Current State of NHS Waiting Times and Performance

  • Elective Care Waitlist: As of May 2024, the waitlist for elective care has risen to 7.60 million, an increase of over 31,000 from the previous month. This figure represents individuals awaiting planned hospital care, with many patients listed for multiple treatments.

  • Cancer Treatment Delays: Approximately 40% of patients urgently referred by GPs for cancer treatment have experienced waiting times exceeding two months, a figure that starkly misses the NHS's historic target of 15%.

  • A&E Waiting Times: Around 25% of individuals attending Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments in June 2024 faced wait times exceeding four hours, missing the interim target of 24% set for March 2024.

Diagnostic and Treatment Delays

  • Long Waits for Elective Care: The NHS aims to eliminate waits of over 65 weeks for consultant-led elective treatment by September 2024. However, as of May 2024, nearly 56,000 patients were still facing such extended waiting periods.

  • Diagnostic Test Delays: In May 2024, 22% of patients waited over six weeks for diagnostic tests, substantially higher than the 1% target, pointing to a significant backlog that hinders timely medical assessments

Challenges Facing GPs

General Practitioners (GPs) in the UK are encountering numerous challenges, contributing to the broader issues within the NHS:

  • Increased Patient Load: GPs are dealing with rising numbers of patients due to population growth and higher prevalence of chronic conditions, which significantly strains resources.

  • Administrative Burdens: High levels of bureaucracy and paperwork reduce the time GPs can spend with patients, impacting the quality of care.

  • Recruitment and Retention Issues: The NHS faces difficulties in recruiting and retaining GPs, exacerbated by stressful working conditions and relatively lower remuneration compared to other specialities.

The King's Speech on Mental Health

In his recent address, the King emphasized the critical need to enhance mental health services across the UK. He advocated for increased funding and support for mental health initiatives, highlighting the importance of accessible and effective mental health care for enhancing overall national well-being.

Moving Forward

The NHS is at a crucial juncture, requiring targeted reforms to address these systemic issues. Improving the efficiency of service delivery, enhancing workforce management, and increasing funding in critical areas are essential steps to ensure the NHS can meet current and future healthcare demands.

What We Bring to the Table

Expertise in Healthcare Management: Leveraging decades of collective experience among our team, we bring deep insights into the logistics and strategies that drive successful healthcare systems.

  • Innovative Solutions: We integrate the latest in medical technology and administrative practices to streamline processes and improve patient care.

  • Strong Partnerships: Collaborating with healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community leaders to ensure our initiatives are comprehensive and effectively address the real needs of patients and staff.

Why This Matters

Restoring Trust

In light of recent challenges within the NHS, restoring trust is a paramount goal. We commit to:

  • Transparency in Operations: We advocate for open communication about the realities and challenges facing the NHS, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged in the solutions.

  • Accountability for Outcomes: Through continuous monitoring and reporting, we hold our initiatives accountable for delivering measurable improvements in healthcare services.

  • Public Engagement: Encouraging and facilitating public involvement in reform processes to ensure that the community's voice is heard and integrated into decision-making.

These components are crucial in not only addressing the immediate inefficiencies but also in rebuilding a robust NHS that garners widespread trust and confidence from the public and medical community alike.

Chief Operating Officer

I am both honoured and excited to announce my appointment as the Chief Operating Officer at The Social Impact Academy. This role represents a significant milestone in my career, combining my extensive background in health, wellbeing, strategic management, and innovative technology with my passion for making a tangible difference in society.

My experience spans across diverse sectors, where I've developed strategic relationships with global corporates and blue-chip multinationals, honing a deep understanding of how large organisations operate and the potential they have to drive widespread positive change.

The Social Impact Academy's commitment to improving the health and well-being of the UK’s population through motivational enabling and behavioural change resonates deeply with my professional values and personal aspirations. The opportunity to contribute to such transformative work is precisely what I've aimed for in my career.

Joining The Social Impact Academy feels like a natural progression, aligning my skills and experiences with an organisation that is equally committed to fostering significant social impact.
